Loyd, who was called Ike, moved to Kansas City from Warsaw, MO shortly after his marriage to Edith where he worked as a buyer for Montgomery Ward. In 1938 they moved back to Warsaw, MO where he was a parts man for a farm equipment dealership retiring from Warsaw Truck and Tractor Co. in 1964. General Notes: Wife - Edith Fay Hart

Patricia Bresee Gilbert remembers; Edith worked in the post office right after her 1920 high school graduation. Her father Gedney Hart was the Postmaster. Edith delayed graduating a year or two because she stayed home and helped raise the younger children. She later taught in country schools including Fredonia and Elder Ridge near Sweet Springs, MO. July 1943 she assumed the duties of Cashier for United Telephone Co.and continued there until retirement January 1, 1965. Loyd and Edith were past Patron and Matron of Osage Valley Chapter 502 Order of Eastern Star (1950-51). Edith had auburn hair and some of her sisters were red headed as well.. She was a spunky, intelligent and a bit assertive woman who almost lived to be age 100. Edith loved to garden , play cards (especially Canasta) and to go fishing. My memories of " Grandma" include what a fantastic cook she was, especially baking-I was never able to master her delicious biscuits and fruit cobbler. She was always talkative and said what she thought. (Perhaps that was one reason that Grandpa was always so quiet.) When I last saw Grandma (in her younger 90's) she was still quite spunky and quite a sharp mind. I remember the sparkle in her eyes when we visited the Truman Dam where she delighted in seeing hundreds of Gar fish playing in the water. Edith liked keeping up with the family members and always had family pictures all over her dining and living room furniture. She could tell you all their names and what they had been doing. When she died 1999, her daughter Ruth Ann ( my Mom) found many handwritten notes of family names/dates and her scrapbook(s) which formed the basis of much of my Bresee, Hart and Eoff family tree documentation. Mom and I believe Grandma would be pleased that we both now are carrying on her love for documenting and remembering the "family" through our genealogy hobby.

General Notes: Husband - Edward Wood

According to a summary of papers in the London Metropolitan Archives, "Edward, as the elder son, moved from his house at Hampton, where he had been living since his marriage in 1695, into the mansion at Littleton on his father's death in 1723. He did much to extend the family holdings in the Littleton area, purchasing, for example, the Chantry House and the Malthouse in Littleton. (928/5 & 7) His son, Thomas, was the one who finally purchased the Manor of Littleton itself from Gilbert Lambell in 1749. (928/2/7) It then remained in the hands of the Wood family until 1873."

Of Littleton Park, Treasurer of the Inner Temple. Thomas Wood was a tenant of Littleton Park until he purchased the Title, which was originally granted to Robert Blunt after the Norman Conquest, in 1749. According to the Cardiff Times, April 6, 1894, pg. 3, he was elected a Member of Parliament for Middlesex in October 1779 and served until September 1780, when Parliament was dissolved.
His biography in "The History of Parliament: the House of Commons 1754-1790", ed. L. Namier, J. Brooke., 1964, is as follows:

Biography

In 1754 Wood was invited to stand with William Thornton for Westminster by a group of electors 'desirous of having other Members there for their representatives than those already proposed';1 the invitation was declined when it became clear that they would be opposed by the Duke of Bedford. He is not known to have again considered standing for Parliament until 1779, when he owed his return for Middlesex to North's refusal to grant the Chiltern Hundreds to George Byng, the candidate of the anti-ministerial party. Wood, the chairman of Byng's election committee, was put up to hold the seat until the general election. 'Mr. Wood is sent home,' wrote Byng to Portland on 19 Oct. 1779 after the county meeting, 'he is not to canvass, nor to do any one act at any period that can incur expense.'2 He was returned unopposed.

On 10 Dec. 1779 Wood presented a petition from the Middlesex freeholders complaining against North's refusal to grant Byng the Chiltern Hundreds, and moved for leave to bring in a bill to allow Members to stand for another constituency. It was defeated on the motion to go into committee, 29 Feb. 1780. He does not appear to have spoken again.

He died 25 June 1799.
