General Notes: Husband - William Manners Wood

William had a job as an Electronics Technician at the US Naval Yard in Pearl Harbor and was a witness to the Japanese attack in 1941. In 1942 he joined the Army Air Corp and became a bomber pilot. During the war he flew B29s. He was in the 462nd Bomb Group with a rear echelon base in Piradoba, India and a forward base at Kung Lai, China. From these bases he carried out bombing raids over South East Asia and Japan, "flying the hump" over the Himlayas to get from the India base to the Chinese base, from which bomb raids could be had on Japan. He flew a total of 35 combat missions including the fire bombing of Tokyo in 1945. During the war he was promoted to Captain and, after the war, he stayed in the Air Force, holding many positions in many bases and flying many aircraft up to and including the B52 Bomber. When he retired in 1964 he was a Leiutenant Commander. He had earned The Dinstinguished Flying Cross and several other medals and awards.

   Christened:
         Died: 5 Nov 1842 - New York, NY 2
       Buried:  - Marble Cemetary

       Spouse: William Callender (1766-1837)

General Notes: Husband - William Harrison

William is believed to be the same person who married Sarah Bennet and was listed in the marriage license as a waggoner to His Majesty's Royal Artillery. (see the evidence in the listings for Abigail Sutton and William H Harrison). There is some evidence in the records of the Callender familly (their daughter, Sarah having married a Callender) that William and Sarah, fled to Nova Scotia, as many loyalists did. There was a William Harrison, a Baptist, probably from New Jersey, who arrived with other loyalists in Beaver Harbour Nova Scotia on the Camel in September 1783. If this is the same man, then his daughter Sarah was, in fact born in New York and not in Nova Scotia (see conflicting records in listing for Sarah (Harrison Callender). In partnership with Caleb Paul, William Harrison erected a sawmill on a stream called Waswaswiniwick at the head of Beaver Harbour in the Parish of Pennfield in 1785. In 1786 Harrison sold his share in the sawmill to his partner and, apparently left the area. Like many loyalists, he may have returned to New York. This would be consistent with Sarah being in NY at the time of her marriage to William Callender (some time before Maria Callender was born in 1799).

General Notes: Child - Sarah Harrison

Death Certificate of her son William Callender Jr. gives her birth place as Nova Scotia. However, in the 1880 census William Jr. listed her birthplace as NY. The Manhattan Death Ledger also lists her birthplace as NY. The Manhattan Death Ledger also lists her brother William' s birthplace as NY and he served in a New York regiment in the war of 1812. The three siblings, William, Mary and Sarah were all long time NY residents.
