After marrying Esther, Henry sold his stock of dry goods and settled on a farm in Eastchester, NY, where he died of Typhus fever.

After her husbands death, Esther lived with her son Joseph.

For many years he was a salesman in different retail dry-goods stores in New York City. At one time he was in the retail dry goods business with his brother Joseph B. under the firm of W. J. Hart, corner of Bowery and Prince Streets. They failed in business. He married Susan , but after a few years they separated. They had no children.

John never married. He was a bookkeeper for many years with Partridge , Harway, Cliff St., NY.

Joseph and Emma lived a few years in Chicago where he carried on the bag manufacturing business under the firm of Hart, Axten, and Co. On account of the great rise in cotton, owing to the war, they made money rapidly and they returned to New York City in 1864 and built a house in Harlem.


General Notes: Child - Henry Azariah Hart


For several years he was a clerk for Cyrus W. Field and Co., New York . Afterwards, his health becoming poor, he was unable to attend to business. He traveled to the British Provinces, and afterwards spent a winter in Cuba. He never married.
