He is found in the 1860 US Census of Ashe Co North Carolina as age 25, with a wife age 21, and in the 1870 Ashe Co. census as age 35, with wife age 28. His wife Nancy died sometime between 1876, when their youngest child Elizabeth "Lizzie" was born and 1880, when he is found in the 1880 US Census with his 2nd wife, Mary Ann [?] Turner . She has 3 children, Daniel age 11, William age 7, and John age 4 Turner listed as stepchildren. A.P. has all of his children living with him on the 1880 US Census (except his oldest daughter Irabella who apparently died between 1860 and 1870, as she is not found in the 1870 US Census.]

General Notes: Husband - George Koons
George Koons, son of John and Bridget Nolan Koons, was born about 1813 -1814 in North Carolina. His parents moved to Indiana about 1820. George married Mary "Polly" Eller in 1837 in Indiana, where their first daughter Eliza was born in 1838. They moved to Indiana in 1839. George began plowing, and building a cabin, with the help of his brother Dillon. George died shortly after the move. His daughter Martha was born after his death.

Mary "Polly" Eller the daughter of David and Tabitha Judd Eller, was born in Wilkes Co., North Carolina on 20 Sep 1820. Her family moved to Wayne Co, Indiana in 1828. Mary married George Koons on 1Sep 1836 in Wayne Co., Indiana. She and her husband and her parents moved to Jefferson County, Iowa in 1838. Her husband died in 1839, and Mary married 2nd Claiborne C. Tinsley on 8 August 1842. They lived in Jefferson County Indiana the remainder of their lives. Mary and Claiborne had six children, five who lived to adulthood.
